I received Dr. Hala Zayed, Minister of Health and Population, yesterday evening, Thursday, the first shipments of the Coronavirus vaccine produced by the Chinese company (Sinopharma), at Cairo International Airport, coming from the United Arab Emirates, in the presence of the Chinese ambassador to Egypt and the Chargé d'Affairs of the Emirati ambassador.
Dr. Khaled Mujahid, advisor to the Minister of Health and Population for Media Affairs and the official spokesperson for the ministry, said that this vaccine has proven effective by 86% in preventing the emerging corona virus, 99% in producing antibodies to the virus, and 100% in preventing access to moderate and severe cases.
Mujahid said that the priority in distributing the vaccine will be for health sector workers, with priority given to workers in isolation, chest and fever hospitals, and patients with tumors and kidney failure, pointing out that the vaccine is administered in the shoulder muscle in two doses, separated by 21 days.
