The Prime Minister visits the Oncology Institute and Cairo University Emergency Hospital in the presence of the Minister of Higher Education and the President of Cairo University



Dr.. Al-Khisht: The visit of the Prime Minister gave a great impetus to the completion of the completion of development of the largest projects in the history of Cairo University


Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, the Prime Minister, inspected this morning the restoration, development and renewal works of the buildings of the National Cancer Institute and the Reception and Emergency Hospital at Cairo University, and assessed what has been developed and renovated in preparation for opening them soon, receiving patients and providing services naturally, and was accompanied by Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Muhammad Othman Al-Khasht, President of Cairo University, Dr. Hala Salah, Dean of the Qasr Al-Aini College of Medicine, and Dr. Hatem Abu Al-Qasim, Dean of the National Cancer Institute.


Dr. Mohamed Othman El-Khasht, President of Cairo University, confirmed, during the tour, the continuation of the development work at the Oncology Institute, and its completion soon, and confirmed the completion soon of the development work at the Reception and Emergency Hospital in Qasr Al-Aini, which the President of the Republic directed to quickly develop it according to the global code for hospitals, and increase the total area The hospital has a size of 700 square meters to 7000 square meters, and is equipped with the latest international medical devices for emergency.


Dr. Mohamed El-Khasht explained that Qasr Al-Aini Hospitals is witnessing a comprehensive development process in implementation of the Qasr Al-Aini 2020 Development Project, which Cairo University has been working on for some time, and has been able to complete major stages of it, as the project aims to provide a vision for institutional development and raising the infrastructure efficiency of Qasr Al-Aini hospitals. To improve the level of educational and training services, in addition to providing health care services to patients.


The President of Cairo University said that the visit of the Prime Minister gave a great impetus to the completion of the completion of the development of the largest projects in the history of Cairo University, as the development work at the National Cancer Institute includes the rehabilitation of the main building after the explosion that occurred in August 2019, and the repair of internal damage to the building The medical center, internal and external facades, repair work on floors and a lecture hall, as well as repair and renewal works for the emergency area, the main entrance, establishing a patient lounge, establishing early detection and pain treatment clinics, a rest for doctors, in addition to modernizing the administrative buildings, as well as developing the electromechanical works of the building.


The development work of the National Institute of Oncology also includes the rehabilitation and development of the southern building, and increasing its capacity, which adds 6 operating rooms, 18 intensive care beds, 145 beds for patients and 110 daily chemotherapy chairs, and the average number of patients visiting the National Institute annually is now For oncology, more than 300 thousand patients attended the outpatient clinics in the main building, and more than 95 thousand patients attended the clinics of the Breast Hospital in the First Settlement, the number of patients entering 6,650 patients, and the total number of beds in the institute is currently 316 beds.


While the development work of the Reception and Emergency Hospital, carried out by the Engineering Authority of the Armed Forces, included an increase in the number of medical departments, which are the isolation section with two isolation rooms, the short-stay section and its supply with 44 beds, the cardiac and neurological emergency department and providing it with a thrombolytic device, an ECO device, 7 beds, and an initial examination section with 17 beds, in addition to the operating suite, equipped with two operating rooms, a trauma room with 4 beds, and an emergency laboratory and a blood bank were added to the hospital.


The reception and emergency hospital was also provided with the latest medical devices, as the hospital’s radiology department was upgraded and equipped with two Sonar and an MRI device, and the number of CT devices increased to become two instead of one, and X-Ray devices increased to 3 devices instead of two. The number of beds in the Reception and Emergency Hospital was also increased from 25 beds to 113 beds, the intensive care beds increased from 5 beds to 15 beds, the number of beds in the orthopedic department increased from 4 to 8 beds divided between 4 beds for examination and 4 casting beds, and an increase in the beds section. Accidents and bleeding from 3 to 9 families, and the addition and development of fire resistance and fire alarm networks, Aid Head Bed Unit + gas network, light current and monitoring networks, and the power station that includes two transformers and a generator.
