Poet Irene Paulus grew up in the city of Mahalla al-Kubra, then moved to live in Sheikh Zayed City, she graduated from Ain Shams University, Faculty of Al-Alsun, Spanish Language Department, and despite her poetics and immersion in the life of Arabic literature, her field of work differs greatly from her talent, as she works in The management department of a multinational company (Valeo) in the Smart Village.
Irini made her way with writing poetry in the elementary stage, as she was writing her poem in the Egyptian colloquial dialect. Her family discovered her talent and interest in writing poetry, so they took care to encourage her, especially her older sister, Marian.
Irene Paul tells, “Sabah of Egypt” about her love for the Arabic language, which was the reason for supporting her talent and entering the world of poetry, and in high school she began writing and transcribing her poems in classical Arabic, and whenever these memories came to her soul, she remembered her two teachers, the Arabic language teacher, Mr. Daoud, and the teacher of philosophy and psychology Naji Salah, who were constantly pushing and encouraging her.
Irene Paul wrote some of her poems using terms and words known to the Arabs since the pre-Islamic era, which are characterized by their difficulty, but they do not suit to a great extent with the culture of the Egyptians, and she adds, I wrote some poems in very difficult pre-Islamic terms, but the people I heard complained about the difficulty and therefore I decided to write in easy classical And expressions away from roughness.
Irene Boulos gained many literary experiences and knowledge through her attendance at poetry seminars and poetry and literary evenings, especially the recent period and specifically in the literary house among the masters of Arabic poetry.
Irene Paul thought, writing poetry in different languages, but Arabic literature has always triumphed over the rest of the languages, and she adds, from my point of view, that no matter how proficient foreign languages are, you will prefer the mother tongue, which is the language we express with more ability than all we love to write about, and my writing in Arabic Something that makes me very happy, especially as it addresses Egyptians like me who lived the same history of the country and shared similar memories.
Irene Paul used to express in her poems what preoccupies her thinking and the experiences surrounding her, such as her strong belonging to her country, and this came in her poem (To my hometown). The poem (Al-Qaa is not for us) in which she calls for reference to the morals of the past, along with other experiences that she has gone through and recorded in various poems.
Irene Paul is interested in writing modern poetry, known as free verse, and it does not follow the system of the two halves, but rather the verses stacked together in a harmonious way while preserving their weights and using some imagination in them, which is called metaphoric poetry.
Irene Paul, seeks to raise social issues in her poetry and believes that her duty is to support reform of thought and spread positive values so that she was able to exploit her talent for what benefits people and not only that enjoys their ears.
