Mays is a Syrian artist who expresses women in color


Colors brought her soul back to life mixed with hope, that hope that emerged from the breath of war in order to live and see the light, and made the woman the mirror of her interest and the home of her brushes, the plastic artist Mays Mustafa, a new star shining in the art space in Syria

Mays Mustafa's talent began in drawing since childhood. She used to draw on everything in front of her, and the love of drawing continued with her accompanying her wherever she is, as she finds psychological relief from life's pressures.


Miss Mustafa moved away from drawing for a period due to difficult illness conditions that she went through, her marriage and childbearing, and drawing is not alone her friend, as she has multiple interests in reading, as she loves sociology books and inspiring novels and likes Russian literature that carries important ideas and great writers such as Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky and loves Very music, he turned crochet and uses this talent to make winter sweaters and shawls for her family.



Mays Mustafa loves agriculture and tells "Sabah Misr" that the sight of roses hanging on her balcony delights her. She loves to learn languages ​​as she speaks Russian, English and Spanish.


Mays Mustafa spoke about her return to painting, saying:


“I went back to drawing and coloring after my daughters grew up a little bit, I painted with all the materials lead, charcoal, dry, oily ink,

I like oil colors, they have a royal peculiarity


I developed my talent by practicing and seeing the experiences of other local and international artists, reading art books, and benefiting from the net and YouTube.


Miss Mostafa participated in many exhibitions inside and outside Syria. Her paintings were exhibited in Egypt, Lebanon and Canada, and she participated in a magazine for children's drawings.

Drawing was and still is the talent closest to her heart, not her goal of financial gain behind him, then people started asking her for paintings at their request, so she painted them for a fee and they were happy with them, and this thing pleased her and encouraged her for more.


Mays Mustafa considers that drawing is a transition from reality to a parallel, magical reality where there is nothing in it except spiritual harmony and circumambulation around the niche of truth, and she adds, when I draw, I put the headphones on my ears and play music, so it is separated from reality and entered into a state similar to spiritual contemplation and prayer.


Mays Mustafa believes that plastic art in Syria is authentic, Syria has been since eternity a country of civilization, urbanization and the arts, and sees itself as Phenicia as the daughter of the sea and the alphabet has established a love for calmness and nature and its expression in her paintings.



Mays Mustafa says that during the Syrian war against terrorism, art galleries flourished, as painting is self-expression and the most powerful weapon in the face of terrorism and extremism.


Mays Mustafa expresses, in her paintings, different scenes from reality, as she painted the grieving mother who was waiting for her son, drew love and the hug of lovers, and painted nature with the beauty it carries. She painted Arabian horses and varied themes of her paintings and ideas, as she paints the thing that affects her, and about her wishes, she said: “My future dreams are summed up. In a safe country in which I develop and refine my talent
