Tell us about Engy Al-Husseini, writer, artist and artist?
I studied interior architecture décor at the College of Fine Arts and worked for a long time in one of the major architectural companies, but the big change in my life happened with the events of January 25, at that time I was as anxious as other citizens as I followed the chaos of the street and my feeling of belonging to my country increased, which prompted me to change my field of work As an architect after 8 years, he joined the Egyptian Center for Studies and Research and worked in it as a researcher in the center’s media office.
Engy's interest in political affairs
As I was keen to follow all the local and international news, as well as follow-up programs that are interested in political affairs and how to choose the news and information that are important, and given that I have an artist, this has pushed me to excel. To increase my experience, I enrolled in the Nasser Military Academy and took the courses of strategy and national security and the course of crisis management, as well as a course on how to combat corruption from the Administrative Control Authority.
How do you combine art and writing?
I can say that the center is the place where I discovered myself as a writer, the beginning was by writing many scenarios for many documentaries and political films, then I wrote many political and social articles that won the admiration of experts and specialists ..
The truth is that I am often amazed at changing the type of writing that has evolved into a fictional form, and I started writing and publishing short stories, and perhaps the reason for that is because I am a lover of all kinds of arts and literature, because the artist and the writer are two sides of the same coin. Stories and I published my first collection of stories “After my departure” and from here I felt a new kind of happiness through writing and how to influence others.
What issues would you prefer to focus on?
One of the issues that I like to focus on are social issues, because I see that the human’s lack of identity and humanity is the cause of many problems and crimes that we have come to view with amazement due to the development of the type of crime. I also care about political issues in light of the state of the unconscious in which the citizen lives, and his running behind untold rumors And also because I believe that the homeland is still under threat from the global economic and security forces, which defeated them on 6/30.
Which is stronger in combating extremism and racism, plastic art or writing?
In my opinion, writing is stronger than art in fighting extremism. The word is a dangerous kind of weapon, and we have suffered from books and hadiths that have become a reference for terrorist organizations and groups, such as the books of Sayyid Qutb and Abu Al-A'la Al-Mawdudi. Therefore, I understand the concept of “renewing religious discourse”, which is intended to revise books from extremist ideas And a clear explanation of some hadiths and verses, so that interpretation is not acceptable.
Encouraging young people to read begins at a young age through the home and buying picture books and bedtime stories, followed by the role of the school, the child grows reluctance to read because of the filling that we have always experienced in the curricula, or because the topics are heavy on the student’s mentality and not interesting, as it should return Reading share, and scientific school trips, it is not natural to talk about the history of the High Dam, for example, or about Luxor and its importance as a tourist city, and the student does not see those places, but I always see a bright glimmer of light through the flocking of many young people to the book fair that is held every year.
Tell me about your literary production and any topics that you raised in your publications?
My literary production varies between writing short stories, novels and writing articles. I have a collection of short stories, novels, and essays in libraries, which are social and romantic stories, and “Real Silver Tale,” which are realistic stories and the novel “The Price of Deception,” which is an emotional novel, and my last book is “The Alarm Bell” which is A mixture of political and social articles on local and global affairs.
What needs to be changed in the thought of Egyptian women?
What a woman needs in terms of a change of thought is related to her person, so the woman always addresses and attacks the man, the problem is not with the man, but in the mechanism of implementing laws, and it is a problem that does not concern women alone but pertains to the whole society, and the woman should stop that and know well that her freedom and creativity Relate to her free will and not to man, as long as she respects the traditions of the society in which she lives.
Who should you thank and why?
On my way, which I am still at the beginning, the credit always goes to my family in the first place, then to the head of the Egyptian Center, Major General Abdel Hamid Khairat, the former deputy head of the State Security Investigations Service, for being a professor from whom I learned the meaning of patriotism and learned from him on the social level how a person is big and responsible and how to benefit from experiences To which a person is exposed, no matter how harsh it is.
As a woman, what is a message to society?
As a woman, I address the society with an important message, which is the need to respect the differences and differences between us, especially in trends and opinions, and society must appreciate the role of the mother and worker “woman” and not deal with women with a superficial perspective related to their gender, shape and manner of dress, for women are the factory of men and the womb of humanity
